TEDxAmsterdamWomen overturns the status quo in campaign for latest conference

AMSTERDAM, 6 November 2017 - Last week the TEDxAmsterdamWomen conference was held at Koninklijk Instituut voor de Tropen, Amsterdam. TEDxWomen is a stage for women to inspire; it focuses on the unique way in which women contribute to global change and thus helps to reshape the future.

For this year's event, WE ARE Pi's Creative Lead Anne Fleming and Designer Johanna de Greeuw collaborated to create the overarching theme and visuals. The theme was 'Overturn'. The work subverted the words that define and confine us in binary, polarised identities. Feminist. Feminine. The new F words were the first in a series of posters that flip stereotypes and simplistic identities to celebrate those who overturn.

Marian Spier, Founder of TEDxAmsterdamWomen said, "Throughout the world, women have to deal with prejudice, expectations and labels created by society. Many of these labels are connected to each other and are often mistakenly seen as disparate. WE ARE Pi visualized in an excellent way the theme to inspect these labels and to show the strength of women.
